Visiting Teaching Conference

All of Relief Society including women serving in all auxiliary programs of the church are invited to attend the Visiting Teaching Conference to be held this Sunday during the first hour of church. This is the regular time and place that Relief Society is held. I'm not sure about the logistics of this, but I can't wait to find out :)

My bad indeed!

I don't know what my deal is. I type faster than I think, I guess. I need to clarify that the Quiet Book Class will meet for the first time exactly one month from today, March 25th. Not tonight as I posted earlier, and not March 17th as was announced in Relief Society.

You will still need these supplies:

Fabric Markers, fabric crayons, or fabric paint. (Just buy one not all three.)
Fabric Markers - purchase from Robert's Craft or Joanne's Fabric (Crayola Fabric markers cost around $5.00 or others sold separately.)
Fabric Crayons cost around $5.-- - purchase from Robert's Craft
Fabric paint costs around $1.00 - purchase from Joanne's Fabric store
White velcro 3/4 inch hook and loop

But not until a month later than I posted earlier today!

Everyone Has a Story class is tonight!

The topic tonight is "My First Car". This Enrichment Group is designed to help you write your personal history. You can write about the topic however you would like to and bring a copy of it to share with the class if you want to. Even if you don't write a story it would be fun to go and listen to everyone else's stories.

This is a picture of my first car... well, this is how they make it 21 years after the model I drove in high school :) It was my dad's old commuter car. My junior year in high school my sister and I got to share it and then it was all mine my senior year. The air conditioning was broken so I was always driving windows down style, but the heater worked great. I just tried to remember that all summer - in the winter the heater would work great! It finally died the summer after I graduated from high school with almost 400,000 miles on it! Also, when my brother was 14 he would sneak out in the wee hours of the morning in my car to do his paper route. He taught himself how to drive stick in the foggy Central California mornings.

Eat Cake

The Book Club meets the first Thursday of each month to have an enlightening and entertaining discussion. I have still never been to a meeting, but I've heard over and over that they're really fun. They will be meeting next on Thursday, March 5th at Marilyn Miles' home at 7:00 PM. They will be discussing "Eat Cake".

I found this picture online so if someone from the book club let me know if you're reading "Eat Cake" by an author other than Jeanne Ray, that would be great. I've been known to make mistakes :)

Overage Sale Answers

The kind woman at the Lindon Cannery got back to me about my questions and here's the deal.

There will be an overage sale at the cannery on May 1st, but there are no special sale prices. The overage sale is to sell inventory that was not picked up or just extra product.

Tomato Soup and Overage Sales

Our Relief Society presidency will be emailing announcements about the Lindon Cannery to let us all know about opportunities to volunteer for shifts there. Shifts are 2.5 hours and at the end of your shift you have the opportunity to buy the product directly from the cannery. Tomato soup is scheduled for the rest of this week.

I noticed at the end of the last email that there was mention of an Overage sale on May 1st. I've left a message with the cannery asking about prices for the overage sale and I'll post it here when I find out. Buying from the Lindon Cannery is always a deal, just imagine even more of a deal!

"What can the women of the Church do to claim the blessings of the temple?

Through His prophets, the Lord invites those who have not yet received the blessings of the temple to do whatever may be necessary to qualify to receive them. He invites those who have already received these blessings to return as often as possible to enjoy again the experience, to increase their vision and understanding of His eternal plan.

Let us be worthy to have a current temple recommend. Let us go to the temple to seal our families eternally. Let us return to the temple as often as our circumstances will permit. Let us give our kindred dead the opportunity to receive the ordinances of exaltation. Let us enjoy the spiritual strength and the revelation we receive as we attend the temple regularly. Let us be faithful and make and keep temple covenants to receive the full blessings of the Atonement."

Scrapbook Paper Sale

I just heard that there is a Scrapbook Paper sale at the Alpine School District Surplus Store and the last day is tomorrow from 1:00 - 4:00 PM. I went last week and got a stack of 12"x12" paper and card stock an inch tall for $3. The also had stickers, cards and envelopes, markers, punch-out letters, and packages of designer paper for assorted prices. For example, I got 2 packages of cards and envelopes for $1. The markers were $2. The packages of designer paper were $1 each. Really great prices.

It's all Stampin' Up brand that you can check out here. The person who told me the sale had been extended said that there might be even more discounted prices because it is the last day.

Book Club Correction!

See, I knew I should have put that disclaimer of I *think* this is what's going on for book club.

I was way off with the book club announcement. Marilyn, if anyone showed up at your house tonight I'm really sorry!

Book Club is meeting on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 5th at 8:00 PM and discussing "The Parting" by Beverly Lewis.

Yikes. Sorry about that!

Lots going on tonight!

Book Club is tonight and I'm pretty sure that I remember Janet telling me that they are discussing These is My Words by Nancy E. Turner. I think I also recall that they meet at Marilyn Miles' home at 7:00.
Also... the quilt group is meeting tonight at 7:00 PM in the nursery room. If you have an idea for a project, bring it to share. Also Claudine Snyder would like the email addresses of all those in the quilt group an anyone new that wants to get involved. Let me know if you need help getting in touch with her.

Have fun!
